Mount Meru 4 Days Climbing

Mount Meru 4 Days Climbing

$2510 / per person
(0 Reviews)

Mount Meru is 4566m asl, making it a so very good acclimatization trip as a preparation for Mount Kilimanjaro climbing. On Mount Meru, no camping usually people sleep in huts at Miriakamba hut 2500m asl and at Sudle hut 3500m asl.

We recommend climbing mount Meru to the people who have time and little more budget as it makes very good acclimatization and preparation for Kilimanjaro mountain climbing.

We have an offer of a 13% discount if you do Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro together with us.

Arrival

On your arrival, we will arrange for a driver to pick you up from the airport to your hotel. Usually, a day before starting an expedition, your guide will meet you at the hotel around 5:00 pm for a pre-climb briefing and gear check. Feel free to ask your guide any questions you have about your trip. Usually, breakfast is saved around 7:00 am at your hotel and your guide will pick you up from 7:30 am to 8:00 am. Please ensure that you have packed your bags before breakfast, have signed everything you don't need on the mountain to reception and your valuables to the hotel's safe that includes your passports, as provided that you only need photocopies for national parks formalities except for under 16s, their ORIGINAL PASSPORTS are needed. In the case of group members being in different hotels that time might change to later. Expect further warning for that.

At the gate, you will clear your trekking permits, meet up with your porters, guide, cook, and game ranger, and start climbing. You will pass open grassland which will give you a good opportunity to see buffaloes, warthogs, and other grazers. You will cross the Ngare Nanyuki River and continue climbing through the mountain forest. There you will have the chance to see many different kinds of birds and black and white colobus monkeys. Finally, you will reach Miriakamba Hut where you will stay overnight.
3

MIRIAKAMBA HUT (2541 M) – SADDLE HUT (3570 M)

Hiking time: 3 - 4 hours Ascent: 1050 m / 3445 feet Max. altitude: 3550 m / 11647 feet Accommodation: Hut Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner The 2nd-day of climbing is quite short but demanding. You will start early in the morning and ascent steeply through a lush mountain forest full of birds to reach the halfway point of Elephant Ridge (Mgongo wa Tembo). There you can see the crater. After 3 to 5 hours of climbing, you will reach Saddle Hut where you will have lunch. In the afternoon you will have another hiking to Little Meru (3820 m / 12533 feet) for acclimatization and superb views before sunset. Then you will return to Saddle Hut overnight. It is good to go to sleep early so that you get enough rest for the summit climbing attempt.
4

SADDLE HUT TO SUMMIT (SOCIALIST) PEAK TO MIRIAKAMBA

Hiking time: 3 - 5 hours Ascent: 1050 m / 3445 feet Max. altitude: 3550 m / 11647 feet Accommodation: Hut Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner You will start climbing between 1 to 2 at night. The route is very steep towards Rhino Point (3820 m / 12533 feet)) and from there towards the summit along a very narrow ridge. You will reach mount Meru summit, Socialist Peak, (4566 m / 14980 feet) right at sunrise. It will take about 3 hours back to Saddle hut for a short break and lunch if not brunch. The sceneries there are stunning; you will see Mount Kilimanjaro in close distance. After taking photos on the summit you will descent back to Saddle hut. Note: On icy conditions or strong wind it is not necessarily possible to pass the ridge between Rhino Point and the summit. Your guide will decide if the conditions are not good enough to continue.

On the long way down you have very good chances to see wildlife and the ash cone.
