A so very good acclimatisation trip as a preparation for Mount Kilimanjaro climbing

Mount Meru 3 Days Climbing

Mount Meru 3 Days Climbing

$2510 / per person
(0 Reviews)

Mount Meru is 4566m asl, making it a so very good acclimatization trip as a preparation for Mount Kilimanjaro climbing. On Mount Meru, no camping usually people sleep in huts at Miriakamba hut 2500m asl and at Sudle hut 3500m asl.

We recommend climbing mount Meru to the people who have time and little more budget as it makes very good acclimatization and preparation for Kilimanjaro mountain climbing.

We have an offer of a 13% discount if you do Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro together with us.

Tour Plan

1

Arrival

On your arrival, we will arrange for a driver to pick you up from the airport to your hotel. Usually, a day before starting an expedition, your guide will meet you at the hotel around 5:00 pm for a pre-climb briefing and gear check. Feel free to ask your guide any questions you have about your trip. Usually, breakfast is saved around 7:00 am at your hotel and your guide will pick you up from 7:30 am to 8:00 am. Please ensure that you have packed your bags before breakfast, have signed everything you don't need on the mountain to reception and your valuables to the hotel's safe that includes your passports, as provided that you only need photo copies for national parks formalities except for under 16s, their ORIGINAL PASSPORTS are needed. In the case of group members being in different hotels that time might change to later. Expect further warning for that.
2

MOMELLA GATE TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT

After breakfast, we will collect you from your hotel and we will drive to Arusha National Park, Ngongongare Gate to check in at the park headquarters. We then proceed by vehicle until we reach Momella Gate where we start our trek. It is mandatory on this route that an armed Park Ranger accompanies us to ensure that we are safe against any wild animal threats. The trail leads us through a montane forest and oddly formed Fig tree onwards enjoying the beautiful nature and wildlife on the way to Miriakamba Hut for overnight. Hiking time: 3 - 4 hours Ascent: 900 m / 2953 feet Max. altitude: 2500 m / 8,202 feet Accommodation: Hut Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
3

MIRIAKAMBA HUT TO SADDLE HUT

As we climb higher up Mount Meru you will feel the air begin to cool and get slightly thinner. Today we will ascend over 1000 meters up to Saddle Hut at 3550m. This afternoon there is time to go for an acclimatization hike a further 300 meters up to Little Meru at 3820m for acclimatization. Don't forget to take your camera to capture the views of Mount Kilimanjaro over 80 kilometers away. Hiking time: 3 - 4 hours Ascent: 1050 m / 3445 feet Max. altitude: 3550 m / 11647 feet Accommodation: Hut Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
4

SADDLE HUT TO SOCIALIST PEAK TO MOMELLA GATE

We set off early around 2 a.m. following the path through scrubland to Rhino Point at 3820 meters. From here the route gets more demanding as we follow the narrow crater ridge until we reach the summit after approximately 4-5 hours. From Socialist Peak, we will watch the sunrise over Kilimanjaro and have time to explore Meru's crater and ash cone. We then descend by retracing our steps back down to Saddle Hut and onwards to Miriakamba Hut and finally Momella Gate. After reaching the Momella Gate we will collect our summit certificates and meet our vehicle here, then drive back to our hotel via USA River for Lunch and celebration with a chance of tipping as an appreciation for the African Giant Adventures climbing support team. Hiking time: 10 - 12 hours Ascent: 1016 m / 3330 feet Descent: 2966 m / 9730 feet Max. altitude: 4566 m / 14980 feet Accommodation: Hotel Meals included: Breakfast / Lunch
