Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking volcanic caldera formed over 2.5 million years ago. It is the largest unbroken and unflooded caldera in the world, stretching approximately 20 km across and plunging 600 meters deep. This natural amphitheater is home to over 25,000 animals, making it one of the densest wildlife destinations in Africa.
Often dubbed the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” the Crater provides a surreal safari experience set within a collapsed volcano. The view from the 2,200-meter-high rim reveals a dynamic landscape of grasslands, acacia forests, swamps, and Lake Makat—a soda lake that draws flamingos and other birdlife.
Ngorongoro is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places to spot the endangered Black Rhino, black-maned lions, elephants, and leopards, alongside thriving herds of wildebeest, zebras, and buffalo.
